Following discussions with the North Melbourne leadership group and interim coach Rhyce Shaw, Taylor Garner will not be available for AFL selection this weekend.

North GM football Cameron Joyce said the club is still working through the incident in question and further penalties may be handed down pending those outcomes.

“We simply will not tolerate anyone who compromises team standards and expectations,” Joyce stated.

“Taylor knows he made some poor choices on the weekend and we will continue to work with him to ensure he bounces back a better person.

“At this stage, he will play in the VFL this weekend.”

As the matter is under investigation by NSW police, Joyce said the club cannot make any specific comment.

“The club’s decision to penalise Taylor has been made independently of any police investigation or potential outcome,” Joyce added.

“After speaking with Taylor yesterday, he unreservedly apologised and has fully accepted the club’s initial stance.”
