North defender Daniel Nielson has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal, keeping him at the club until the end of 2018.

Nielson revealed the news during the latest episode of Mazda’s Heading Home series, saying he was rapt to remain a Kangaroo.

“It’s nice to know the club wants me there and sees me there in the future,” the key-defender said in the video.

Nielson has played seven straight games at AFL level after making his debut in Round 16 against Fremantle.

The number 26 is one of 13 players to have made their club debuts during the 2017 season.

After being drafted to North in 2014, Nielson ruptured his ACL in March the following year.

He bounced back to play regular VFL football in 2016, before taking his game to another level this season.
