North young gun Sam Durdin has reaffirmed his commitment to the Roos, signing a one year contract extension.

The talented key position prospect had already committed to the club for two years, but will now play in North colours until at least the end of the 2017 season.

“North Melbourne has been really great for me so far and I’m thrilled to have been offered another year,” he told NMFC.com.au.

“It’s been a big step up coming from the SANFL, but I’ve really enjoyed it.”

North’s first pick (16) in the 2014 National Draft has already impressed coaches and players in the lead up to the 2015 season and will be working hard to earn his debut.

“Together with the other draftees, we’ve worked really well together in making the most of this pre-season campaign,” he said.

The 18-year-old is expected to be used as a ‘swingman’ and said he’s ready for anything.

“You don’t want to be underprepared. I took that advice on early days and now it’s up to me to do my best at training and be ready to play if I’m called on.”

Durdin hails from West Adelaide and said while he loves living in Melbourne, some things are taking time to get used to.

“My only complaint would be the traffic and if that’s all I can complain about it’s obviously going pretty well.”
