1. Daniel Wells evasion and Drew Petrie goal
North starts the match brightly and after the opening goal to Lachie Hansen it pushes forward again. Jamie Macmillan receives the ball 70 metres from goal and quickly handballs to the running Wells.
The dashing midfielder goes one way and is met by Brendan Goddard. He shapes to run into the centre, but with lightning-quick footwork, steps the other way leaving Goddard grasping at thin air. Wells then delivers the ball into the forward 50 and an open Petrie, resulting in North's second goal of the day.
2. Chasedown tackles
With so many tackles to choose from, this week's edition of Plays of the Week could have been made up solely of incredible chasedowns. Instead, here are all of them merged into one.
a) Michael Firrito on Ahmed Saad
The ball falls to Justin Koschitzke inside the forward 50 and he dishes off to the running Saad. At this point it seems Saad is about to waltz into an open goal. However, Firrito has other ideas. Out of nowhere, he makes the tackle on Saad and prevents a certain St Kilda goal.
b) Jamie Macmillan on Stephen Milne
Early in the second quarter, North has just kicked a goal to break a run of five successive St Kilda goals and is looking to work its way back into the match. However, Milne receives the ball 60 metres out and begins to run inside 50 for a shot on goal.
Macmillan never gives up on the chase though and just as Milne is about to have his shot, he is brought down from behind for another holding-the-ball decision.
c) Brent Harvey on Raph Clarke
St Kilda begin a counter-attack and it results in Clarke picking up the ball in the centre square and taking off for home. He takes two bounces, unaware Harvey is rapidly closing in.
Starting at least 15 metres behind Clarke, Harvey makes up the distance and drags his opponent down to earn the free kick.
3. Leigh Adams bump and goal
St Kilda is under pressure deep in its defensive 50 as Sam Fisher approaches the ball. Thinking there is space on the other side, Fisher turns around. However, he is met with a thumping hip and shoulder from Adams and falls to the ground. Seizing the moment, Adams snatches the ball and bounces it through for a goal off his left foot.
4. Drew Petrie mark
North comes out full of running early in the second half and goes forward once more through a forward-50 entry by Jack Ziebell. Outnumbered in the air by St Kilda defenders, Petrie sticks up his left hand and plucks a superb unexpected mark.
5. Brent Harvey running goal
St Kilda is making a charge at North early in the last quarter, narrowing the margin to five points through a Lenny Hayes goal. After a reply from Kieran Harper, the ball goes back to the centre with North holding onto a narrow 12-point lead.
Terry Milera gains possession but his handball is intercepted by Ryan Bastinac. A quick handball to Wells is followed by a looping pass to Harvey which sets him into space. Confronted by Sam Gilbert on the 50, Harvey simply runs around him, takes a bounce and slots a crucial goal in North's last quarter charge.
