Superstar ruck-forward Corey McKernan and recruiting genius Greg Miller will be inducted into North Melbourne’s Hall of Fame.

McKernan and Miller were key drivers of North Melbourne’s success in the 1990s.

McKernan was the unstoppable force who changed the way ruckmen played the game, while Miller recruited or signed every player who appeared in the club’s 1996 and ’99 premiership sides.

Both men will be formally honoured at the North Melbourne Hall of Fame on Friday, July 17, the night before the club’s Round 19 home match against Melbourne.

Last week, the club announced that Malcolm Blight and Denis Pagan will be elevated to Legend status in the club’s Hall of Fame

As well as McKernan and Miller, four more Kangaroos greats will be revealed as Hall of Fame inductees in the coming weeks.

A big-game player through the Roos’ remarkable run of final appearances in the 1990s, McKernan could have been an AFL Rising Star and Brownlow medallist if not for suspension.

He was one of North Melbourne’s best in the breakthrough 1996 premiership win, and stood up in big moments in the 1999 win.

To underline McKernan’s greatness, alongside his great mate and captain Wayne Carey, for a time the Kangaroos had the two most dominant big men in the competition.

For Miller, if the 1970s premiership era was Ron Joseph’s team, the 1990s teams were his.

The architect of the club’s success in the 1990s, Miller enjoyed a storied career as chief recruiter, football general manager and CEO.

Miller famously brought greats Wayne Carey and John Longmire to North Melbourne in a package deal from Sydney in one of the great recruiting coups in League history.

Miller is still involved with the club, serving as an active member of the North Melbourne past players and officials’ network.
