In a first, the North Melbourne Season Launch brought together the men’s and women’s teams, as well as some of the all-time greats.

The players were presented their jumpers by former greats, alongside Rhyce Shaw and  Scott Gowans.

Wayne Schwass gave No.2 to Marley Williams and Daria Bannister, Darren Steele gave No.7 to Jack Ziebell and Ash Riddell, Anthony Stevens handed the No.10 to Ben Cunnington and Kaitlyn Ashmore, Glenn Archer passed No.11 to Luke McDonald and Daisy Bateman, but perhaps the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for Wayne Carey, as he handed the famous No.18 to Shaun Atley and Britt Gibson.

“What a great night. It’s fantastic to see all the old faces from the past,” coach Rhyce Shaw said.

“It’s such a privilege and an honour to have all these guys here.

“This is what it’s all about. We are one big family at North Melbourne, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”

Ross Smith, Wayne Schimmelbusch, Peter Chisnall, Alex Ishchenko, Daniel Harris, Sam Gibson, Stuart Anderson, Frank Goode, Ross Henshaw, Shane Clayton and Corey Jones were among other to present their former jumpers to the current mob of Kangaroos.

“We understand that if you are lucky enough to wear the North jumper, you never take it off,” Shaw added.

“You are always representing those that have gone before us. The great players of the past.

“Whether you’ve played 1 game or 432 games, you’re always welcome at our footy club.”
