Star forward, Jas Garner, has been awarded the 2020 AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award.
Garner edged out Collingwood’s Jaimee Lambert (46) and Carlton’s Maddie Prespakis (44).
The announcement comes a week after she scored a perfect ten for her efforts against Geelong in the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos' 46-point-win.
Garner’s incredible season, saw her poll in five of the six rounds, receiving four perfect tens and a seven from the coaches.
Showing her versatility up forward and through the midfield, she kicked eight goals for the home and away season.
North coach Scott Gowans said the award is a testament to Garner’s hard work.
“Jas is one of our most consistent performers and she has a unique ability to change the game,” Gowans told North Media.
“She took her footy to new heights this season with her versatility and her on-field leadership was invaluable.
“We couldn’t be happier and more proud of her, and the exciting part is; her best is yet to come.”
Garner averaged 21 disposals per game and ranked first in the competition for score involvements (avg 5.2 per game), second for total metres gained (avg 367 per game) and fourth for goals (8).
She ranked highest at the club for contested marks, contested possessions and score involvements, and third for disposals.
Emma Kearney (34), Ash Riddell (31) and Jenna Bruton (23) rounded out North’s leaderboard.
