With no price rises for the first three rounds of the season, Dream Team coaches will be keeping a close eye on players scoring above their expectations in a bid to grab an early bargain.

While Gary Ablett was the talk of the footballing world for his outstanding performance on Saturday night, it was the Kangaroos’ captain who led all scorers in Round 1.

Andrew Swallow ($528,800) netted 141-points for his 34 disposal, 9 tackle performance to reward over 8,000 selectors.

Somewhat of a surprise packet during an 89-point outing, Aaron Mullett is considered one of the league’s most valuable fantasy players after the opening round, with his value set to rise rapidly.

With a preference for disposing of the ball by foot (18 kicks, 4 handballs) the 21-year old is well suited to AFL Fantasy.

Priced at $252,700, Mullett looks a value pick for the 1,286 managers who have him on their books.

Todd Goldstein ($407,300) is another who could attract more interest after amassing 101-points. It was an impressive effort from the North ruckman given the quality of opposition (Darren Jolly), and he looks to have held Daniel Currie at bay, at least for the moment.

Back in the middle, Ben Cunnington ($387,500) continued his rise to prominence with 78-points, while Ryan Bastinac ($405,800) tallied 75.

At the other end of the scale, Liam Anthony flew to 30-points in only a quarter of football, but with his hefty price-tag ($499,200) a price-drop looks almost inevitable.

Given his ball-winning ability, a return to the starting line-up for North Melbourne may still attract selectors though.
