Another team challenge and another day of controversy involving Director of Sports Science and Player Rehabilitation Peter Mulkearns and the defenders.

Days after claiming the first team challenge was "rigged" and casting shadows over Mulkearns' allegiances, Michael Firrito and his fellow backmen find themselves embroiled in yet another highly emotional tit-for-tat.

"Things are getting pretty heated again," a visibly upset Firrito told kangaroos.com.au.

"There's definitely some bad blood between us," he said in reference to Mulkearns.

Led by Scott Thompson, the group including Firrito, Luke Delaney, Cam Delaney, Nathan Grima, Liam Anthony, Aaron Mullett, Scott McMahon, traveling executive Mark Ruff, Massage Therapist Luke 'Flushy' Warnett and Sales and Sponsorship Manager Adam Aiello hit the finish line more than an hour ahead of their nearest competition in an Amazing Race-style challenge.
Another checkpoint reached
The players received an unexpected early wake-up call on Monday morning and were given a package which included instructions for the day's task.

"We were given a list of five checkpoints to get to and a map. None of the coaches were allowed to tell us anything more or help in any way," Nathan Grima explained.
Bonus points for a Cheeseburger
Outside McDonald's
Bonus points were added if the group brought back items such as chopsticks, a cheeseburger, a one-hundred dollar note, a stamp, a Starbucks coffee cup and a movie timetable from the local cinema and local gym.

But one other item is what has sparked all the debate.

Also on the list was the requirement to obtain a 'freshly caught fish'.

The checklist
"One member of the group came up with the brilliant idea to go to the pet store and catch a small fish from the aquarium," Luke Delaney said.

"So we did that and while Judge Steve Saunders gave it the thumbs up, Pete Mulkearns came in over the top of him and tried to say we cheated and wouldn't allow it. It's a disgrace? - they never said we couldn't think outside the square."

"We beat the system and now the system is trying to bring us down," Aaron Mullett added.

Affectionately named Rupert, the defenders have video evidence showing that the goldfish was fairly caught and no money changed hands.

"You caught the fish and you didn't pay for the fish," a Petco store manager later confirmed.

"There's no argument in my opinion," Liam Anthony stated defiantly while holding deer antlers to his head to mark the team's latest victory.
Liam Anthony claims victory
"Credit where credit is due I reckon. We ticked off everything on the list they gave us, worked as a team within the four hour time limit and hit the finish line as winners. No-one can take that away from us, not even Mulkearns."
