But cheering for the Kangaroos is only one way the members support the team and this week, they handed over a significant donation of $15,000 to help fund the upcoming pre-season camp in Utah.
“Marie and Annette from the cheer squad have given us an astounding donation. It’s this kind of generosity which helps us put on such an important camp as this,” Chief of Football Donald McDonald told kangaroos.com.au.
“Without this kind of support, we’d struggle to do Utah. This gift covers the cost of some players on the camp which is huge for us. It’s a great gesture and it further strengthens the relationship between us and the fantastic members of the cheer squad.”
It’s the second year in a row the cheer squad has raised funds for Utah.
“It’s a good thing for them to see exactly where the money is going and the impact those dollars have on our players and their development. Off the back of two Utah trips we were able to play finals this year and we really feel the camp is vital to our development and push up the ladder.”
Several raffles, a dinner dance and many other fundraising initiatives enables the group to raise funds throughout the season.
“Their efforts are fantastic and we can’t thank them enough for the hard work they put in for us every week. They play a huge role for the club supporting the boys, especially when we play interstate which can be pretty intimidating against big opposition crowds. Nothing ever seems to deter them. They are always there for us.”
North’s players return from holidays at the end of October and will train for a few weeks before heading to Utah on November 16 for three weeks.
