In The Mix: Round 14
A strong victory over a quality side in Adelaide may mean spots are at a premium, however there were multiple quality performances in the VFL last week.
Matt Campbell
North Ballarat: 29 disposals, 9 tackles
Although Campbell has spent an extended period of time in the VFL, he has become an integral part of the Roosters' midfield in an attempt to add another element to his game. His most recent match yielded another high possession count as well as an impressive nine tackles. His ability to run and carry might be tempting for the match committee against St Kilda.
Cam Delaney
North Ballarat: 18 disposals, 11 one percenters
While the North defenders acquitted themselves well against Kurt Tippett and Taylor Walker, St Kilda's key forwards provide a different set of challenges. With that in mind, the younger Delaney brother presented his case for a recall with a solid performance, doing all the little things well on the way to 11 one percenters.
Luke Delaney
North Ballarat: 12 disposals, 13 one percenters
With Justin Koschitzke looming as a dangerous opponent, Delaney's skill set lends itself well to matching up on the 197cm key forward. In a similar contest against Geelong earlier in the year, Delaney neutralised Tom Hawkins and minimised his influence on the game.
Aaron Edwards
North Ballarat: 32 disposals, 10 marks
In 82 games at AFL level, Edwards' career high for disposals is 19. Therefore, seeing him collect 32 for North Ballarat was something out of the ordinary. While recalling Edwards to the senior team may make the forward line too top-heavy, if he can collect more of the ball further up the ground he will be a viable option.
Cruize Garlett
North Ballarat: 35 disposals
Another best-on-ground performance from Garlett on Saturday came at a perfect time, with a couple of North midfielders having a quiet outing. Consistent high-possession games should leave him as one of the first in mind if there is to be a change to the setup.
Ayden Kennedy
Werribee: 17 disposals, 4 marks
Continuing his strong development down back, Kennedy has impressed with his application and effort since he broke into the Werribee side earlier in the season.
Kennedy staking his claim
Cam Pedersen
Werribee: 18 possessions, 25odd hitouts
A string of quality matches has earned the second-year player some credits in the bank. He continued his strong output by being named in the Werribee bests despite a heavy loss to Bendigo.
Ben Warren
Werribee: 12 disposals, 1 goal
Despite a quiet game on the weekend, Warren's outstanding form throughout the season means he would still be a legitimate option if called up to play as a mobile forward. He could support the likes of Robbie Tarrant, Lachie Hansen and Drew Petrie by drifting further up the field and creating more space for the key forwards.
Levi Greenwood (13 disposals) had a quiet day on his return to the VFL, while Ben Speight (10 disposals) also struggled to exert his influence as Werribee was outplayed for much of the day. Ben McKinley (10 disposals) played his role while Majak Daw (9 disposals, 26 hitouts) fought tirelessly against Tom Bellchambers.
Aaron Mullett (23 disposals) was influential off half back for the Roosters, while Cam Richardson (26 possessions) was named in the bests. Brad McKenzie showcased a defensive side to his game with seven tackles and Aaron Black (2 goals, 9 one percenters) provided a target up forward.
