GREATER Western Sydney wear orange every weekend, and fittingly, the Giants resembled witches hats during the first quarter against North Melbourne in Hobart.
Kicking into a fresh westerly breeze in the opening term, the Roos looked to run in numbers around the eastern wing at every opportunity, delighting fans on the hill as they racked up 23 forward entries for the quarter.
Liam Anthony and Brent Harvey combined for 31 disposals in the quarter, the Kangaroos dominating possession to record 146 disposals to the Giants' 80 and racing to a 43-point quarter-time lead.
Home away from home
Much has been made of North Melbourne's deal with the Tasmanian government to bring Australian football to Hobart, but there can be no denying the Roos have made a good fist of ingratiating themselves with the locals.
A bumper crowd arrived at Blundstone Arena to see the round two clash - and the overwhelming majority were sporting royal blue and white stripes.
Even those wearing Giants gear might have been looking to cover it up as the afternoon progressed and their team fell further and further behind.
Follow the leaders
When Phil Davis kicked the Giants' fifth major of their six-goal third quarter, it was just reward for a resurgent GWS outfit - but it was also an indication of what may be to come from the fledgling team.
For the first time all afternoon, the Giants' prized recruits - Callan Ward, Tom Scully, Rhys Palmer and Davis - combined in a silky passage that saw the ball moved seamlessly from the eastern wing to the opposite forward flank, leaving the Kangaroos powerless to stop the scoring spree.
It wasn't always that pretty for the visitors, but it proved they hadn't given up after being blown off the park in the first half.
Tough customer
There were a few spot fires in and around the centre square early in the second half as the Giants tried to will themselves back into what had been a very one-sided contest to the main break.
The common denominator appeared to be 18-year-old Jacob Townsend, the gritty youngster coming in for some special attention from Kangaroos players unimpressed with his shut-down efforts on Andrew Swallow.
The North Melbourne skipper still had 29 disposals for the day, but given his side's dominance across the ground it was probably a moral victory for Townsend and the GWS brains trust.
Perfect practice makes perfect
North Melbourne ruckman Hamish McIntosh was never likely to have to kick for the win against GWS like he did against Essendon in round one.
But the big-man still spent plenty of time out on the ground before play, preparing for any set-shots he may have to take on a windy afternoon in Hobart.
McIntosh finished with three goals - the most memorable a fluky floater that wobbled through from an acute angle in the third term and proved it's a fine line between skill and luck.
