North Melbourne stars Matt Campbell and Lachlan Hansen and draftee Liam Anthony will ease their way back into football, after all three were named in the reserves for Round 8 of the VFL fixture.

Campbell, returning from a hamstring injury sustained in the Kangaroos' win over Port Adelaide, will play for North Ballarat against Williamstown on Sunday; while Hansen, also returning from a hamstring injury, will line up at centre half-back for Werribee.

The pair are expected to get limited game time, and Chief of football Donald McDonald says their progress will be monitored throughout the match as they work their way back to football at the highest level.

"As it stands at the minute, they've (Campbell and Hansen) completed a fair bit of training but they've still got to finish it off," McDonald told kangaroos.com.au.

Anthony, North Melbourne's third selection in the 2008 National Draft, was one of the finds of the pre-season and was set to make his debut in Round 1 before a late withdrawal with a foot injury.

The 22 year-old, a prolific ball winner for East Fremantle in the WAFL during 2008, was the Kangaroos’ leading possession winner through the NAB Challenge but will have to work back to full match fitness after nine weeks on the sidelines.

Also returning from injury is Deputy Vice Captain Daniel Pratt who hurt his knee in North Melbourne's loss against Collingwood in Round 6.

The versatile defender has been selected in the back half for the Roosters, and will look to gain match practice in the VFL before facing tough competition for a spot in the Kangaroos outfit in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Rookie Ben Speight gets his chance to impress after a string of good performances for Werribee's reserves.

Recruited from Norwood, Speight represented South Australia at the Under 18 championships in 2008, and has quickly asserted his influence for the Tigers, last week picking up 20 possessions, five clearances and six tackles.

Matt Riggio and Daniel Harris will lead the midfield for the Tigers, as they face a tough battle against the fourth-placed Coburg and their Richmond representation of Coughlan, Connors and Hislop in the centre.

Harris has been named as an emergency for North Melbourne after 20 possessions last week, while Riggio, omitted from the Kangaroos team last week, will be looking to stake a claim for his return with another solid performance.

At the Roosters, Josh Smith is keen to continue his attacking exploits after pulling down 11 grabs and kicking three goals in North Ballarat's win over Casey.

Smith and fellow Kangaroo forward Corey Jones have proved a lethal combination in recent weeks for the in-form North Ballarat.

Rookies Cruize Garlett and Marcus White have added plenty to the Roosters midfield brigade in recent weeks, and again get their opportunity to fight for a spot on the senior list, made available after Round 11 of the AFL season.
