1. Daniel Wells smother

In the opening minutes of the game, Gary Ablett marked the ball tight on the boundary and lined up a set shot from just inside the 50 metre arc.

As Ablett's kick leaves his boot, Daniel Wells jumps high in the air and somehow gets his hands to the ball to stop the Suns’ captain from registering a score.

2. Michael Firrito goal

As the second quarter winds down, North Melbourne is peppering the goals to no avail. With the scoreboard reading 1.11, Todd Goldstein marks on the half-back line and centers the ball to Wells.

From there, the ball moves swiftly through the centre square before Firrito takes possession about 65 metres out from goal. He effortlessly steps around Michael Rischitelli, straightens up and makes no mistake with the shot from outside 50 for North's second major of the match.

3. Brent Harvey goal

North starts the third quarter full of running after a Harvey goal. A couple of minutes later, Drew Petrie marks on the wing and sees Harvey running towards the forward 50 with space in front of him.

With Joel Wilkinson trailing the former captain, Petrie's kick is smart and allows Harvey to run onto it. The veteran picks the ball up on 50, shrugs Wilkinson's attempted tackle and makes no mistake with a snap shot from 35 out.

4. Lindsay Thomas checkside

Halfway through the third quarter, Ben Cunnington marks just inside 50. He sees Thomas free in the pocket and promptly handballs to the left footer. However, as he attempts to run past Taylor Hine, Thomas is flattened late and receives a free kick.

From a relatively tight angle, Thomas lines up as if to kick a drop punt from the set shot, but instead runs around and kicks a checkside to convert the goal - making a tough goal look simple.

5. Drew Petrie - mark

From a stoppage just on the defensive side of the wing, North Melbourne works the ball clear and eventually into the arms of Sam Wright. He kicks long to a contest where Drew Petrie is outnumbered by two Suns players. Ignoring his predicament, Petrie soars high on the shoulders of Sam Iles to bring down one of his 14 marks on the night.

It leaves him nominated for the Lifebroker AFL Mark of the Year - vote for Petrie here.
