kangaroos.com.au can exclusively reveal newly inducted AFL Hall of Fame Legend and champion Roo rover Barry Cable will be guest of honour at the match.
The dual premiership winner says he was thrilled to be invited and be offered the opportunity to have a lap of honour.
“I was absolutely delighted when I was asked to come along. All this has been an extremely humbling experience for me,” Cable said.
The West Australian was the 24th player to be named a legend by the AFL.
“The celebrations have been shared by so many people close to me and really hope that the North Melbourne supporters get something out of this as well. They’ve been amazing for me over the years.”
Cable, 68, has an immaculate playing record with more than 400 senior games to his name in Victoria and Western Australia as well as eight club best-and-fairests. He’s also won multiple premierships, including North Melbourne’s two flags in 1975 and 1977.
Acting CEO Cam Vale urged the club’s supporters to pay their respects to the former great and help celebrate his recent achievement.
“Because Barry lives in Perth, we don’t get many opportunities to see him and this is one of those ‘not to be missed’ occasions. We ask all our fans to get to the game and enjoy what promises to be a memorable night not only for Barry, but also his family and the club in general.”
Cable’s appearance will be part of one of the biggest night’s on the club’s calendar, with more details on the blockbuster game to be released next week.
