Danielle Hardiman often slips under the radar alongside the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos’ star on-ball brigade, but the defender’s importance certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed at Arden Street.

The former Blue has formed a strong partnership with fellow tall Tahlia Randall in defence, and is key to North’s premiership hopes.

Skipper Emma Kearney earmarking the number 31 as one of the club’s big improvers in 2021.

“A veteran of our side is Dani Hardiman. I think her game in defence, she’s going to light it up for us. I’m looking forward to her,” Kearney said during the team’s Season Launch event.

Hardiman has played 25 games at AFLW level, 12 at Carlton and 13 at North, often tasked with a role against the opposition’s most damaging forward.

At the other end of the ground, two emerging draftees are also catching the eye.

“If you’re looking at our younger players, someone like Bella Eddey or Alice O’Loughlin just giving us a little bit of spark up forward will be exciting,” Kearney said.

The pair will be hoping to put their hands up for selection later this week, as North prepares for its season-opener against Geelong on Sunday.
