Mullett hook, line and sinker
He’s the first rookie to be upgraded for the 2012 season and Aaron Mullett is deserving of the promotion.
The 20-year old had 13 disposals against Carlton last Sunday and looked comfortable at Visy Park despite playing just three AFL games late last year against Fremantle, St Kilda and Richmond.
The left-footer is exceptionally accurate by foot and is now looking a likely option for Brad Scott against Essendon in round one.
North Melbourne recently put new draftee Tom Curran on the Long Term Injury List which created another spot on its senior list - two possible rookie promotions were therefore available.
Mullett’s encouraging form has now reduced that number to one and the fight for the remaining spot will now intensify.
Sam Gibson is the front-runner after an outstanding pre-season campaign but with a healthy list, the club is in no hurry to make a move. Malcolm Lynch will be aiming to continue his return to fitness after a hip injury as will Majak Daw from a knee complaint. Brad Mangan has been solid in defence during his first few hit-outs in the VFL with Gavin Urquhart desperate to prove he still belongs at the top level.
Max Warren is a young and talented midfielder who will look to use the year to grow and develop his game in the midfield.
