Courteney Munn will be sidelined following her impressive debut, after sustaining a calf injury in the final quarter of last week’s victory against the Western Bulldogs.

The injury is considered "very minor" but the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos aren’t prepared to take any risks according to coach Scott Gowans.

“It’s an unfortunate turn of events for Courteney who was super impressive last week,” Gowans said.

"It’s a very minor, low-grade strain and while we’d love to have her out there this weekend, we always take a longer-term view to our players' health and won't risk further damage.

“We expect she’ll be available for selection next week.”

Nominated as the Round 3 Rising Star, Munn kicked four goals in her first outing for the Kangaroos.

“She showed in her debut game what she is capable of and the depth she added into our forward line was significant,” Gowans added.

“We believe we have more than enough depth to cover the loss of Courteney, and it provides an opportunity for someone else to come in and have an impact against Melbourne.”
