Arriving from Richmond in the 2021 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, Callum Coleman-Jones joins Luke Davies-Uniacke, Jaidyn Stephenson, Aiden Bonar, Kyron Hayden and Tristan Xerri as members of the 2017 draft class currently on North Melbourne’s list.
A genuine ruck, Coleman-Jones found opportunities hard to come by at Punt Road and was often used primarily as a key forward to accommodate the likes of Toby Nankervis, Mabior Chol and Ivan Soldo.
Making his AFL debut in 2019, ‘CJ’ was made to wait until 2021 for further opportunity at AFL level.
He joins young rucks Tristan Xerri and Jacob Edwards at North Melbourne, along with veteran Todd Goldstein.
Career Brownlow votes: 1
2021: In the most consistent season of his young career, Coleman-Jones played eight games across 2021, kicking 11 goals in the process.
While still used primarily as a forward, he was afforded some opportunity to show his capabilities in the ruck, with his 14-disposal, 16-hit-out, two-clearance performance against GWS in Round 22 showcasing the best of his talents in the middle of the ground.
Playing up front in the season's early stages, he kicked eight goals in his first three appearances, including a bag of four majors against Adelaide in Round 11.
He took on future teammate Todd Goldstein in the ruck in Round 21, where he registered 14 disposals and kicked 2 goals.
