Utility Eddie Ford is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks after suffering a midfoot injury in Saturday's VFL game against Port Melbourne at Arden St.

Ford had his foot caught and twisted in a tackle early in the clash. He played no further part in the game, and a scan on Sunday confirmed a sprain.

"His timeline will be dictated by how quickly the swelling and inflammation settles but we're looking at 3-4 weeks as the best estimate," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.

In better news, intercepting defender Charlie Comben is nearing a return to play, having made significant strides over the past week.

"Charlie completed a strong footy function session on-ground on Tuesday as a bridge to return to group training Thursday," White said.

"We'll assess Charlie's ability to play this week after training on Thursday."

First-year Kangaroo Luke Urquhart missed the Round 12 reserves game due to a hip flexor issue and will face a test later this week to determine his availability, while Josh Goater (quad), who is 3-4 weeks away, will look to reintegrate into group training next week.

Aidan Corr's calf injury symptoms have been slow to settle across the first 10 days of his recovery. 

He'll reload with controlled lower volume and intensity sessions this week and look to build from there, White said.

Miller Bergman has presented extremely well post-surgery and is now progressing through knee rehab exercises, while Darcy Tucker is making great strides in his recovery following back surgery.

Forward Cam Zurhaar copped some knocks in Saturday night's loss to Fremantle but has been cleared of injury and is expected to play on Saturday against Carlton at the MCG
