North Melbourne spearhead Nick Larkey is a step closer to a playing return after completing a modified training session on Tuesday.
After scans last week revealed a low-grade PCL injury, ongoing knee soreness kept Larkey on the sidelines for Round 19's trip to Sydney.
Tuesday's moderate-intensity training session was a "significant step" for the forward," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.
"His availability will be determined by his ability to get into training with the main group on Thursday," White said.
Callum Coleman-Jones' calf injury has been confirmed, after the big Roo's comeback game against the Swans on Saturday lasted less than 15 minutes.
The unlucky tall suffered a left calf strain despite a solid five-week block of game-loading at VFL level ahead of his return.
"He will remain off legs this week and look to reload early next week once his symptoms improve," White said.
As confirmed by senior coach Alastair Clarkson last week, defender Luke McDonald's season is over after he underwent surgery to repair a damaged AC joint.
"This will now enable full recovery where he will be able to present strongly for pre-season next campaign," White said.
Defender Aidan Corr is two weeks away from a playing return from his calf injury after completing another phase of rehab last week.
"Aidan put together a strong block last week and now enters his higher conditioning and football phase of his rehab,” White said.
"We will look to extend his acceleration and change of direction work and football-specific conditioning this week to prepare him for group skills integration next week."
Utility Eddie Ford will be a test this week after suffering a minor mid-foot injury in Round 15's VFL match against Footscray.
"We kept him off legs across the weekend and re-loaded Tuesday in group training, which was positive," White said.
"We will assess his confidence and function in his higher-end agility in training on Thursday."
