The opposition

Adelaide will be looking to secure its first minor premiership since 2017, currently sitting atop the ladder with a 17-5 record.

The Crows will come into the clash with plenty of confidence, having won each of their last eight games, including a thrilling three-point victory over Collingwood last time out.

Defenders Mark Keane and Josh Worrell were instrumental in the win, picking up 14 and 11 intercepts respectively while playing important roles in keeping the Magpies to only 56 points for the match.

Rory Laird is likely to return from suspension, while the availability of star forward Izak Rankine is yet to be determined.

Running hot

Harry Sheezel was the talk of the town after his record-breaking performance against the Tigers.

The star midfielder equalled the AFL disposal record with 54, while dealing major damage on the scoreboard with two goals and 15 score involvements.

What the coach has said

North Melbourne senior coach Alastair Clarkson on Thursday: "(It's) a big challenge against Adelaide. We're looking forward to taking a step forward and seeing how we go.

"We’re consistently good in the contest. ‘Big X’ (Tristan Xerri), ‘LDU’ (Luke Davies-Uniacke), Luke Parker, George Wardlaw, Harry Sheezel and Tom Powell … did really strong jobs for us last week.

"The challenge is that that is a real strength of the Adelaide side. That’s why they are top of the ladder.

"If we have the same sort of ferocity at the ball like we had against Richmond, we will give ourselves a chance."
