Star onballer Luke Davies-Uniacke will need to pass a fitness test if he’s to face the League-leading Sydney Swans on Saturday afternoon.

Davies-Uniacke experienced hamstring tightness following Sunday's loss to Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

"Pleasingly, Luke’s presented well post-game and across the last 48 hours," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.

"He was managed on Tuesday with extra recovery, but will look to train on Thursday and tick off high-end function to be available to play."

Midfielder George Wardlaw, who missed the trip to Geelong due to illness, is recovered and expected to be available for selection this weekend.

In further good news, young midfielder Luke Urquhart is poised to play his first competitive home-and-away season minutes at VFL level this weekend.

The West Australian has been sidelined so far this season with both illness and a persistent knee injury.

"Luke has put together a strong block of work over the past three weeks and now has the confidence and ability to produce power and acceleration with the knee soreness he has battled," White said.

"He’ll follow the main group program this week and will play VFL on managed minutes for his return game after missing some time."

Zac Fisher (hamstring) is tracking well in both his gym and on-field work and is expected to return in 2-3 weeks.

Second-year Kangaroo River Stevens has pulled up well from his knee procedure and has begun the early phase of his rehab, while Robert Hansen jnr continues to work through a groin issue.

"Robbie has one more week of a holding pattern with his programming as his groin symptoms are starting to trend more favourably," White said.

"Hopefully, we can start to build out his high-end footy function, power and agility in this next phase across the coming weeks."
