North Melbourne midfielder Shaun Higgins has capped off an impressive season, polling his highest ever vote tally in Monday night’s Brownlow Medal count.

With a previous best of 11 votes back in 2009, the 30-year-old found himself amongst the leaders with an impressive 15 votes from 20 games.

The veteran was in the votes on seven occasions, which included best on ground performances in Rounds 7 and 14.

Higgins finished in a tie for 16th alongside Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury and West Coast’s Elliot Yeo.

Ben Cunnington also impressed in the count, polling 11 votes, mirroring his 2017 tally.

The hard-nosed midfielder’s name was read out on five occasions, and was awarded the maximum three votes in Rounds 5, 11 and 19.

The 27-year-old finished in a tie for 30th alongside GWS’ Stephen Coniglio, West Coast’s Jack Darling, Fremantle’s Lachie Neale and Essendon’s Devon Smith.

Jarrad Waite and Jack Ziebell both polled seven votes, while Ben Brown and Todd Goldstein were behind on six.
