Nick Dal Santo has given a glowing endorsement of North Melbourne, praising the club’s ability to welcome new recruits to the club.

Speaking on NAB AFL Trade Radio, Dal Santo reflected on his early days as a Roo, crediting both the staff and playing group for making him feel comfortable.

“You speak about going to the Kangas,” he said.

“I did that five-odd years ago. They were so embracing and so welcoming.

“I considered myself a bit of an outsider, coming from a different upbringing being at the Saints from the age of 17.

“They were warming, engaging and you just fit straight in.

“Football clubs are really good at that, I’m not saying other clubs aren’t, but the Kangas were superb.

“Led by Brad Scott the first day I met him.”

That comfort Dal Santo felt was reflected in his on-field performances, averaging 24.46 disposals per game in his three seasons as a Roo, an impressive increase on the 22.1 disposals he averaged at St Kilda.

Sam McClure drew upon the career’s of former North signings that have produced career-best seasons at their new club.

“They have a great record with people like yourself (Nick Dal Santo), like Shaun Higgins, like Jarrad Waite, of getting the best out of players when they move clubs.”
