The unknown will be a large part of North’s 2017 campaign; youngsters who are new to AFL level will be given every opportunity to prove themselves alongside the club’s experienced core.

That fact is reflected in Champion Data’s player ratings for the season in their AFL Prospectus.

Few clubs have as many senior listed players in the ‘unknown’ category, which is reserved for those who have made less than 10 AFL appearances in the previous two seasons.

Ryan Clarke and Corey Wagner are the two closest to jumping out of ‘unknown’ after six and four matches respectively last season.

Several key-position players also feature, with defenders Sam Durdin and Ed Vickers-Willis looking close AFL debuts after promising pre-season form.

Who will make the biggest jump from the ‘unknown’ category by the end of 2017?

Come round one though, the ratings will mean little to the Kangaroos’ players when the ball is bounced for the first time.
