West Coast v North Melbourne
Patersons Stadium
Sunday September 9, 1.15pm WST/3.15pm EST

To cap off the home and away season, North Melbourne ran out comfortable 27-point winners over the GWS Giants at Skoda Stadium.

While it wasn't a pretty performance, there was still plenty of quality to choose the top five plays for this week's edition of Plays of the Week.

1. Ben Cunnington handball
Halfway through the second quarter, Ben Cunnington is in a one-on-one contest on the wing with Adam Treloar. The ball spills to ground and Aaron Mullett arrives at the scene just as Cunnington gathers possession.

Without looking, Cunnington fires an unbelievable handball over his right shoulder, hitting Mullett who didn’t even have to break stride.

2. Brent Harvey weave, Sam Gibson goal
Harvey picks up the ball just outside the forward 50 and is faced with numerous GWS defenders. He weaves past one, sells a dummy to a second and bends a short pass around a third to find Gibson on his own about 40 metres out.

The kick doesn't travel the required 15 metres which means Gibson has to play on immediately. Off two steps, the number 43 snaps a shot around the body and the goal umpire barely moves as the ball sails over his head.

3. Drew Petrie impossible goal
After a contest on the left forward flank, Petrie picks up the ball running towards the boundary line, pressured by Phil Davis. He looks inboard, making out he's about to centre the ball.

Instead, he puts the ball on his left foot and kicks a bouncing, dribbling goal which goes through to give North Melbourne a six-goal lead halfway through the third quarter.

4. Kieran Harper baulk and goal
Harper presents on a strong lead and marks just outside his range about 55 metres out. Called to play on by the umpire, he's cornered by two Giants.

He cuts back onto his left side, takes a bounce, straightens and makes no mistake with the conversion from 40 metres out.

5. Matt Campbell boots three
Afforded an opportunity in the starting 21 after playing the sub role, Campbell grabs his chance with both hands.

After two goals in the opening quarter, Campbell’s spark allows North to stay in touch before another in the third term is part of a run that broke the back of the home side.
