He’s the first to admit he’s had somewhat of an ‘up and down’ season so far in 2019, but in recent weeks it’s all been on the up for Mason Wood.

The classy North forward has booted goals in each of the past six matches, and seven in the last two games.

“Probably as the team’s gotten better, I’ve got better,” Wood said on Saturday.

Looking at the numbers, his importance to North is clear.

Wood has averaged 19 disposals and three goals in the three victories he’s played in this year, as the Roos' attacking six really starts to gel.

“I think our forward-line has started to work a lot better in the back half of the games that we’ve played,” he said.

“All forwards are results of that; ‘Browny’ (Ben Brown), Cam Zurhaar, Nick Larkey, Tarryn Thomas and Jy Simpkin have all played a really good role.

“What’s good is that we haven’t looked at ‘Browny’ to kick them, even though he kicked five (on Friday night) … we still had multiple goal-kickers and that’s something we haven’t had in a little while.”

While everything seemed to come together for North’s forwards in an impressive victory over Richmond, Wood said the improvement had been steady.

“It’s a week-to-week thing. The whole group will get better as the year goes on,” he added.
