It’s little surprise Scott McMahon’s return to the North Melbourne team has coincided with a form reversal in the second half of the season.

A nasty illness kept the defender out for the best part of two months and in his absence, it was clear how important he is to the Kangaroos’ fortunes.

The 26-year old is cool and calm in defence, one of the club’s most skilled by foot and can play small and tall. He’s a unique commodity for Brad Scott.

There’s little wonder McMahon has quickly gained praise externally for his unheralded ability and finds himself in the running for the CGU Unsung Hero competition run by Fox Footy.

Labelled the competition that ‘highlights players who did their job without fuss and helped their team in their bid for victory’, the award seems fitting for McMahon.

With competition from Shane Tuck, Heath Grundy, Heath Hocking and Sean Dempster, kangaroos.com.au is calling on North supporters to get behind their man.
