A raft of North Melbourne’s youth was unleashed on Box Hill over the weekend and helped Werribee record a solid 17 point win.

Ruckman Todd Goldstein was outstanding but admittedly aided by the early game ending ankle injury to his opponent Brent Renouf. Goldstein covered the majority of the ground and shone bright in the final term finishing with an impressive 41 hit-outs and 3 goals.

The midfield contingent benefitted from his handiwork, especially Leigh Adams. After struggling with injuries throughout the year, Adams has finally been able to string some quality games together and will no doubt be rewarded with a promotion to the North Melbourne side if his efforts continue. Sunday’s match was probably his best for the year and included 27 touches, 6 clearances, 7 tackles and a goal.

Sam Wright put his knee to the test and got through unscathed. While he didn’t dominate, his 11 disposals and 3 clearances were encouraging.

Other contributors included;

Alan Obst – 20 disposals, 8 marks, 3 tackles
Ben Speight – 16 disposals, 3 tackles, 1 goal
Matt Riggio – 19 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles
Levi Greenwood – 13 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 clearances
