Aaron Black - assists

In a terrific return game, Black had a pair of goal assists to help break the match open in the second quarter. The first a clever pick-up and quick handball to Brent Harvey for a goal from 35 metres out.

The second increased the degree of skill required significantly. With the ball bouncing around in a contest, Black swoops and picks up the Harbour Town Melbourne Sherrin. Then, falling to the ground, Black twists, spins and fires off a handball that hits Sam Wright running past in stride. Wright makes no mistake with the finish for one of his four goals for the afternoon.

Leigh Adams - tackle

With Brisbane making a run at North Melbourne, Adams enters the centre square. Jack Redden bursts away from the bounce seemingly in acres of space, however Adams doesn't give up. Out of nowhere, he rapidly makes up ground on Redden and brings him down just as the ball is about to enter the Brisbane forward 50.

Drew Petrie - mark

From the first centre bounce of the final quarter, Daniel Wells wins the clearance and bombs it long into the North forward line. Petrie, starting his run from way back, gets to the pack and leaps to take one of his trademark contested marks.

Scott Thompson - reverse smother

As Brisbane streams forward, it seems like it has space to pick out a target in the forward 50. Thompson, with his back to the play, doesn't seem like he can contribute in any way other than to restrict his opponent from receiving a handball.

Mitch Golby lines up to deliver the ball deep, however at the last moment Thompson jumps in the air and manages to smother the ball, remarkably with the middle of his back.

Kieran Harper - goal

Midway through the final quarter, the ball is deep in the North forward pocket. Harper gathers cleanly from a contest but is running towards the boundary line. From here, most players would attempt to centre the ball or dribble it toward the square.

Harper trusts his instincts though and sends through a low, spearing snap shot to thread the needle for the likely goal of the day and a potential goal of the year contender.
