A versatile midfielder out of Sturt, Tom Powell entered his first season in the AFL off the back of a brilliant SANFL Under-18’s season.

Averaging over 35 disposals and 9 clearances per game in his draft year, Powell won the McCallum Tomkins Medal as the best player in the SANFL Under-18’s.

While typically deployed as an inside midfielder, he’s also capable of fulfilling a role on the wing or in the forward line, with his high-level decision making and strong basic skills giving him versatility in the front half of the ground.

North Melbourne debut: Round 1, 2021

2023: A strong pre-season saw Powell become a staple of Alastair Clarkson's side in 2023 until an ankle injury in Round 7 derailed what was a promising start to his season.

The injury's lingering effects hampered the budding midfielder for the majority of the second half of the year, but from his 14 appearances, he managed to push forward and have his highest return in front of goal with seven majors - two of which came against the Dogs in Round 14.

Staying healthy will be the key for the 21-year-old in 2024, as he looks to lock down a spot in North Melbourne's midfield that is brimming with young and emerging talent.
