AFLW R4 match report: No Garner, no worries as Roos roll on

The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos have continued their unbeaten start to the season, overpowering Collingwood by 45 points

The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos have continued their unbeaten start to the season, overpowering Collingwood by 45 points at Arden St.

With Narrm, Sydney and Hawthorn joint top of the ladder with four wins from four, the Roos sent a reminder that they are the team to beat with a 8.10 (58) to 2.1 (13) win to join them on 16 points.

KANGAROOS v MAGPIES Full match coverage and stats

Alice O'Loughlin was among seven Kangaroos goalkickers, celebrating her 50th AFLW match and a new contract in style with a brilliant third-quarter goal.

    05:08

Key forward Tahlia Randall defied the gale-force winds blowing across Arden St Oval to kick two goals from set shots, while rising Irish star Blaithin Bogue added another to her growing highlight reel.

Midfielder Ash Riddell, standing in as captain in injured star Jasmine Garner's absence, continued her prolific form with 36 possessions.

Collingwood had their moments after a scoreless first half, but North Melbourne was exceptional. While North struggled to convert chances in the early part of the game, they proved why they are the best side in the competition.

Emma Kearney (24 disposals) and Mia King (26 disposals) were everywhere and controlled the match, especially in the first quarter.

North full-back Libby Birch (17 disposals) was brilliant as she created pressure on the Pies forwards and prevented them gaining the momentum.

Jawoyn woman King, who had not kicked a goal in any of the past three seasons, took her season tally to three after fittingly opening the scoring in the Indigenous Round match.

    An Irish party

Blaithin Bogue's goal of the year contender was a highlight as the Kangaroos held the Magpies scoreless in the opening half.

Bogue's Irish countrywoman Vikki Wall began the move, lighting the afterburners in the centre square. A neat one-two with Bogue followed, scything through the Magpie defence before she released Bogue again, who sprinted into a suddenly-open goal.

Bogue, from Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, has been a revelation since earning her North Melbourne debut in Round 1, kicking eight goals in her four games to date.
