On the day it unfurled its 2025 VFLW premiership flag, North Melbourne Werribee toppled the visiting Darebin Falcons by 34 points on its home deck to move to 3-0.

For the first time in the 2026 season, the Kangaroos took a lead into quarter-time, and despite only leading the clash by five points at the main change, they proceeded to put their foot down in the second half.

They booted five goals to Darebin's one in the second half to run out 8.14 (62) to 4.4 (28) winners.

Abby Favell continued her strong start to the campaign, finishing with a game-high 24 disposals to go along with nine tackles and seven clearances.

Favell was ably supported by Alana Barba who kicked two goals from her 23 disposals, while returning skipper Renee Tierney came back with a bang, slotting three majors.

Barba was on a mission as she broke clean out of a stoppage on the wing two minutes into the fourth term. The talented onballer took two bounces, dished off a handball, got it back and booted the goal of the day on the run, putting her side up by 26 points in the process.

The ladder

You couldn't have asked for a better start to the season for the Roos who are defending back-to-back League premierships. But despite three straight wins of 30+ points, it's last year's Grand Finalists Collingwood that holds top spot on the VFLW ladder. The sides don't lock horns until Round 9 but it's sure to be a hot battle when they clash at Victoria Park next month.

North Melbourne Werribee will Tasmania for the first time ever next weekend. The Roos will head south to face the Devils at North Hobart Oval on Saturday, June 6 at 1.35pm AEST.
