Ruck-forward Callum Coleman-Jones is closing in on his first competitive minutes since rupturing his right Achilles early in the 2024 season.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury on Good Friday last season, but is now poised to make his long-awaited return to play.
"Callum is on the cusp of returning which is exciting after a long road of hard work," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.
"We have had a great four-week block of heavy loading which should set him up well for his return to play next week."
Fellow tall Brynn Teakle is battling a plantar fascia issue which kept him out of Saturday's VFL clash with Brisbane at Arden St Oval.
He'll need to pass a fitness test later in the week if he's to feature for the club this weekend.

"We made the decision to go conservative last week ... he had a run today (Tuesday) and is feeling much improved with his symptoms and function."
Josh Goater remains 3-4 weeks away as he continues to work through a quad and hamstring complaint, while Jackson Archer (hamstring) is slated to return in around 6-7 weeks.
"We are in the process of building confidence around Josh's soft tissue program to best support his ability to absorb load and progress towards football training," White said.
"He has presented well to start this week and will look to consolidate a strong week of conditioning and strength.
"Jackson was pretty restricted and sore with his ability to load in the gym or on-field, until late last week when he turned a corner.
"From here, the plan will be to build his base-level strength and on-field running to then support higher intensity work to come after week four."
Miller Bergman will undergo surgery on Thursday for an ACL repair after his initial consult last week.
He'll then have a period of rest and recovery before returning to the club to begin his rehabilitation.
