Young midfielder George Wardlaw will enter the concussion protocol after suffering a blow to the head in Saturday afternoon's defeat to Hawthorn, ruling him out of Thursday's Centenary game against the Western Bulldogs.

Wardlaw was subbed off in the second term at UTAS Stadium after colliding with Hawthorn onballer Conor Nash.

"His rehab will be guided by club doctors and will progress through the stages of the protocol safely," North Melbourne head physiotherapist Brenton Egglestone said.

Despite copping a knock to his shoulder towards the end of Saturday's game, Harry Sheezel has pulled up well, Egglestone said.

Sheezel will train as normal this week and is expected to run out to play against the Bulldogs.

Forward Jack Darling has been ruled out for at least one week after suffering a groin injury against the Hawks.

"We will assess Jack throughout the week, and he'll likely be available for the Round 18 match against Melbourne," Egglestone said.

Fellow senior players Luke McDonald (shoulder) and Luke Parker (soreness) will both face fitness tests later in the week, as will Charlie Comben (shoulder), Jackson Archer (hamstring), Eddie Ford (foot) and Josh Goater (quad).

"Luke McDonald suffered a big hit on his shoulder in the final quarter on Saturday, suffering an AC injury," Egglestone said.

"Given the time left in the game, he didn’t return to the field. Despite having some soreness, he has good range of motion and strength.

"Luke Parker was sore in his abdomen following a couple of big collisions against Hawthorn. He's recovering well but his availability for Thursday will be assessed through the week.

"Charlie (Comben), despite not reinjuring his shoulder in the game against Carlton, experienced some discomfort last week that limited his ability to train with contact.

"He'll be monitored throughout the week and will test to determine his availability for this weekend.

"Jackson was ill last week and wasn’t able to fully test his hamstring during training, so the call was made for him to not play on the weekend.

"He has recovered well from both hamstring tightness and his illness and will train with the group tomorrow as his test for availability for the weekend.

"Eddie has progressed well over the last week with his foot sprain and has been completing individual running and football skills session with good function.

"Josh has been training with the main group for a couple of weeks now, slowly increasing his intensity of drills. He will again train with the group this week as his test for availability for modified match exposure this weekend."

Defender Aidan Corr remains 3-4 weeks away from a return as he continues to deal with a calf complaint.

"Aidan has experienced some ongoing symptoms of the calf strain he picked up a few weeks ago," Egglestone said.

"He'll continue low-level running while working on his calf strength."
