Defender Emma Kearney is expected to be sidelined for the first two weeks of the 2025 AFLW season as she continues to recover from a calf injury.
The 2024 premiership skipper is progressing well with her rehab, North Melbourne senior AFLW physiotherapist Billy Williams said, and will look to reintegrate into team training soon.
"We expect to have her available for selection in Round 3," Williams said.
Ruck-forward Emma King is also expected to miss the club's season-opening bouts with Geelong and Port Adelaide due to a hamstring issue.
"The last few weeks has seen Emma bank a number of really solid conditioning sessions," Williams said.
"Her next milestones will involve hitting higher sprint velocities, and if things continue as expected she will be back training with the squad this week and be available in Round 3."
After missing the Kangaroos' pre-season hitouts against the Western Bulldogs and Essendon, forward Alice O'Loughlin made her return from a thigh injury in last weekend's intraclub.
Showing no signs of discomfort, the 2024 All-Australian hit the scoreboard at Arden Street Oval and helped create several other chances.
"Alice has completed all of her rehabilitation hurdles and is raring to go for our trip to Geelong," Williams said.
Fellow forward Tahlia Randall, who suffered a sprained ankle in the practice match win over Essendon at Avalon Airport Oval, has been given the green light to play the Cats despite missing the intraclub.
