Four more club champions have been announced as North Melbourne prepares to mark 100 years in the VFL/AFL, with the club’s Brownlow medallists joining other esteemed figures for a memorable pre-game ceremony.
Malcolm Blight, Keith Greig, Noel Teasdale and Ross Glendinning will all be in attendance and presented in front of the Roos faithful, as part of the club’s Centenary celebration against the Western Bulldogs in Round 17.
Teasdale was North Melbourne’s first Brownlow medallist in 1965, awarded retrospectively in 1989 after a rule change that allowed for tied finishes, resulting in him sharing the medal with St Kilda legend Ian Stewart.
A dual Brownlow medallist, Greig won in 1973, followed by another victory in 1974, and is one of only five players to have won the medal back-to-back.
Blight, a Hall of Fame member and dual premiership player, won the Brownlow in 1978, polling 22 votes to finish one ahead of Hawthorn’s Peter Knights.
Glendinning remains North Melbourne’s most recent Brownlow medallist, claiming the honour in 1983, coinciding with his second Syd Barker Medal and his sole selection in the All-Australian team.
MEET THE 1925 KANGAROOS

North Melbourne's Brownlow Medalists
Malcolm Blight
Coleman Medalist. Hall of Fame member. Half-forward in North Melbourne's Team of the Century. Blight was a footballing genius, and the most recent Roo to top 100 goals in a season (103 in 1982). His honours list is as long as your arm, including the 1978 Brownlow Medal and two premiership medals. He will be forever remembered for footy's most famous torpedo, an after-the-siren roost at Princes Park that sailed through post-high to win the game for North.
Ross Glendinning
The fourth Kangaroo to win the Brownlow Medal (1983) and a two-time Syd Barker medallist. A versatile West Australian, Glendinning kicked 214 goals in strong North Melbourne teams during 1978-86, which is all the more remarkable when you consider he played much of his career in defence. He is centre half-back in the club's Team of the Century and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.
Keith Greig
The most decorated player in North Melbourne's golden era in the 1970s. Greig was selected on the wing in both the North Melbourne and AFL Team of the Centuries. It was a position he made his own across his 294 games for the Kangaroos. He won two Brownlow Medals, a Syd Barker Medal, captained the Roos from 1976-78, and played in the club's first VFL/AFL premiership in 1975 - only missing the '77 flag due to a knee reconstruction.
Noel Teasdale
Club captain from 1964-67 and a four-time Syd Barker medallist. Teasdale was a courageous ruckman, instantly recognisable for his trademark padded headband, which he wore on doctors' advice after he suffered a nasty head clash. He tied with St Kilda's Ian Stewart for the 1965 Brownlow Medal but lost on a countback, and was only retrospectively awarded a medal 23 years later. He is the ruck in North Melbourne's Team of the Century.
