Uncompromising in his attack on the ball and any opponents standing in the way, Pickett quickly became a Kangaroos cult figure.

A Nyoongar and Yamatji man who earned his reputation for his physical style of play, 'Choppy' played 120 games for the club before playing for Port Adelaide and Melbourne later in his career.

He managed just one match in his debut season of 1997, but then transformed his game in 1998, winning the AFL Rising Star award.

A year later, he became a North Melbourne premiership player as well as an All-Australian.

After moving to Port Adelaide he added a Norm Smith Medal and 2004 premiership medal, ensuring he would finish his career as one of the most decorated First Nations players.

He is the uncle of Melbourne duo Kysaiah and Latrelle Pickett, and has family connections to Arthur Jones (Western Bulldogs), Liam Ryan (West Coast, St Kilda) and Lance Collard (St Kilda).
