Selected with North Melbourne's No.2 pick in the 2002 draft, Wells, a Wirangu and Wongatha man, was a player who glided across the field. Silky smooth and with eye-catching athleticism, the Wirangu and Wangkatha man starred for the Kangaroos in 243 games. While he had the ability to find the ball himself, Wells never needed a stack of disposals to have a standout impact in a game.
At the height of his powers in 2011 and 2013, he claimed two Syd Barker Medals. Earlier in his career, he took out the Goal of the Year award with the famous ‘Jackie Chan’ kick in a 2004 fixture against Fremantle.
He switched to Collingwood ahead of the 2017 season where he played a further 15 games.
He has family connections to close teammates Eddie Sansbury and Lindsay Thomas.
