Originally from Darwin, Campbell found his way to Arden St via South Fremantle, where he played two seasons in the WAFL in 1992-93.

North Melbourne selected him with pick No.23 in the 1992 draft, but he elected to stay at South Fremantle in 1993, making the move east the following season. 

The forward kicked 17 goals for the club over two seasons, and holds the prestigious honour of scoring a goal with his first touch in league football.

Campbell went on to play in a premiership for South Fremantle in 1997, booting two goals in the match. He coached West Alice Springs to a Central Australian Football League premiership, before returning to Darwin to coach his first club, St Marys.

His cultural identity is not known to the club.
