"Chris", was born in Brunswick, Victoria, the eldest of three children of Annie (nee Bates) and Christoa Gomez. A football journeyman, Gomez began his football career playing for Gormanston on the west coast of Tasmania.
He returned to Victoria and joined the fire service, based at Eastern Hill, and played in their team in the Wednesday League with future North Melbourne teammates Fred Metcalf and Gerry Britt.
Gomez played 26 games for North Melbourne VFA in the 1923 and 1924 seasons but continued to play in the Wednesday League in 1925, when the fire service were runners-up to the railways.
He debuted for North Melbourne's VFL side in the first game on May 2, 1925, selected on the half-back flank. The Age newspaper named him amongst the best players, a feat which he repeated the following week.
All up he was in four winning games for North out of 10. His final match for the Shinboners was at Arden St in a winning game against South Melbourne.
He transferred to Essendon VFL in 1926 and played nine games over three seasons including the semi-final and preliminary final of 1926. 1929 saw him with Oakleigh VFA team until 1930.
In 1927 he married Esther May, known as Maisie, (nee Greatbatch) and they had three children. Gomez was cremated at Fawkner Memorial Park, Victoria.
