In 1924 he had 11 games with North Melbourne's VFA team before debuting with the club's inaugural VFL team in Round 1, 1925 in front of a crowd of 12,000 as a wingman. In the 1925 Round 13 Game against Fitzroy, the Argus newspaper named Lock as, "best performer, he possesses pace and dash and turns cleverly".
He only played one game in 1928 in Round 11, in his final season with North and on April 9, 1930 he was cleared to Williamstown FC but only played in three games with them.
In 1940 he married Euphemia Victoria (nee McNaughton). He is buried in Melbourne General Cemetery with his parents.
