"Lindsay" was born in Geelong, the eldest of four children, to Florence Georgina (nee Donaghy) and Samuel Sydney Meeking, who married in 1902.
Although he played 22 VFA games with North Melbourne from 1923-24 in a range of positions, kicking five goals, he had been playing in the VFL second 18 in 1925 when one newspaper report noted him as having a "fine game".
No doubt this led to his only senior game, which was against Hawthorn at Arden St in Round 6, 1925.
He married Mary Elizabeth (nee Gardner or Weingartner) who was born in Brisbane of German heritage, in 1925 and they had two children. He is buried in Box Hill Cemetery, Victoria under the name Samuel Michael, with his wife Mary.
